HHS announces funding for mental health and substance use care

Dec. 16, 2013

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced December 10 that the Affordable Care Act will fund $50 million to expand mental health and substance use disorder services.

This support will help Community Health Centers establish or expand behavioral health services for individuals with mental illness and drug and alcohol problems by hiring qualified professionals and adding services.

It is expected that approximately 200 Community Health Centers nationwide will benefit from this award, making services available to approximately 60 million Americans.
