Medicaid and CHIP enrollment data

On June 4, 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published a report on state Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollment data.


As of April 2014, approximately 65 million were enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP nationwide. This is a 1.1 million increase from March. Since the Marketplace open enrollment began, more than 6 million additional individuals have enrolled in Medicaid and CHIP.


Michigan’s Medicaid expansion went into effect on April 1, 2014. Over 287,000 individuals have enrolled in the program since then. The Department of Community Health originally projected at least 325,000 individuals would enroll by the end of 2014.
