What Do I Need to Get Started with My HMO Plan?

If you’ve recently enrolled in one of our Blue Care Network plans, you might be wondering what to do next.

Get started with these simple steps.

Register at bcbsm.com

If you don’t already have an online account, you’ll want to register for one now

Through your member account you can choose your primary care physician, which is the first thing you’ll want to do after signing up for a BCN plan. You’ll also have access to your coverage, claims and benefits information online, and much more.

Choose a primary care physician for yourself and your family members

He or she is the person you think of as “your doctor,” and oversees your health care. This includes providing routine care and maintaining your medical records.

Remember, your PCP must coordinate your services for care to be covered. If you need to see a specialist, ask your PCP if a referral or authorization is needed.

How to select a PCP

  • You can easily do this through your online account. Just log in, then search and select a PCP here: Find a Doctor
  • You can also choose a PCP by completing the enrollment form included with your plan information.
  • Or simply call the Customer Service number on the back of your Blue Care Network ID card (711 TTY) from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Schedule a doctor's appointment

Get to know your PCP: Schedule an annual physical. Be sure to discuss your health history, including any prescription or over-the-counter medications you take.
